— Happy Birthday to Grafton! —

On May 28, 29, and 30, Grafton, Vermont (formerly Thomlinson) will celebrate its 250th birthday — more formally, its semi-quincentennial!

Townspeople and visitors will enjoy a wonderful variety of small town events for three fabulous days.

Friday, May 28
Grafton Elementary School's Living History Day

This year we will be helping our town celebrate it's 250th birthday. Each teacher or community volunteer will be the head of a "family". Each family will consist of approximately 8 students in grades K-6. The families will study a particular event, family, business or activity that was a part of Grafton's history and recreate an interactive display for one afternoon.

We invite parents, community members and visitors to come and follow our mapped tour and learn about Grafton's past by watching, asking questions and visiting our students. You will learn about the Phelps family and their role as innkeepers in the village during the 1800's. You can visit a one-room school house and learn with students from the mid-1800's as well as talk to and possibly spin some wool with a family from the turn of the century.

Students and teachers will be in costume and ready to travel back in time as the town celebrates its proud traditions and history.

Please join us.

Saturday will begin the festivities with the reading of the Thomlinson charter, the introduction of dignitaries, and a "Transportation Parade" up Main Street.
